Healthy Weigh classes and consultations are designed to empower participants to reach their weight loss goals or maintain their weight with better nutrition through education, motivation, support, accountability and lifestyle changes they can live with for life-long weight management, vitality and health.
Open Group Classes are offered bi-monthly in Allen and last 45-60 minutes for weight loss/management education and support. Topics include: Meal Planning & Eating for Health, Portion Control & Serving Sizes, the Effects of Sugar, Protein and Healthy Food Pairings, Food Labels & Nutrient Content Calculations, Physical Activity, Dietary Supplements, Everyday Strategies to Combat Triggers and Habits, Challenges for Making Healthy Lifestyle Changes, Eating Healthy On-The-Go and more. Reference materials are provided.
Small Group and Individual Consultations are available in 6-week increments and scheduled to occur weekly for weight management education, meal planning, follow-up and accountability. Weight management education may include same topics as open group classes and provide more targeted education specific to the individual client or small group -limited to 6 participants. Body composition assessment included. Participants are held accountable to exercise 3-5 times per week and required to keep a manual journal and/or online journal (both options provided) of physical activity and nutritional intake.

Individual Consultations (may be shared by 2 clients) are $25 for 30-minutes; $35 for 45-minutes; $45 for 60-minutes. The American College of Sports Medicine (ACSM) and the American Heart Association (AHA) updated physical activity guidelines for healthy adults under age 65 are as follows:
- Do moderately intense cardio 30 minutes a day, five days a week OR Do vigorously intense cardio 20 minutes a day, 3 days a week AND 8-10 strength training exercises, 8 to 12 repetitions of each exercise twice a week.
Moderate-intensity physical activity means working hard enough to raise your heart rate and break a sweat, yet still be able to carry on a conversation. It should be noted that to lose weight or maintain weight loss, 60 to 90 minutes of physical activity may be necessary. The 30-minute recommendation is for the average healthy adult to maintain health and reduce the risk for chronic disease.
